Another Celebrity Checks Into Rehab
This time it is Desperate Housewives hunk, Jesse Metcalfe.
Metcalfe checked himself in to an undisclosed rehab center for alcohol abuse this week. Jesse decided to enter treatment Monday, one day before Page Six broke the story of his weekend-long binge at the Mondrian hotel in L.A.
Sources reported that he appeared as though he hadn't slept in days and was acting "very angry" and "out of control."

Britney Spears left Promises today after a month long stay at the rehab center.
Britney entered the treatment center on February 22nd. Manager Larry Rudolph told the press that Britney Spears has successfully completed rehab and that "We ask that the media respects her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."

Experts Say the Death of Anna Nicole Smith Was a Wake-Up Call for Some, but Not Everyone Is Listening

In Hollywood these days, driving in the wrong direction on a freeway, being caught "under the influence," or shaving your head in public and then racing off to rehab are just as likely to get you on the cover of a magazine as a big opening at the box office.
The list of headline-grabbing celebrities is long: Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Whitney Houston, Robert Downey Jr., Nicole Richie, Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs are among the stars who've gone public with their drug and alcohol problems and who are trying to walk the road to recovery.
Addiction specialist Drew Pinsky says the death of Anna Nicole Smith, an alleged drug abuser, was a wake-up call in Hollywood.
"She dies and then all of a sudden everybody goes into treatment. And that is typically what happens with addicts," says Pinsky, who runs the department of chemical dependency services at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, Calif.
"When someone really has a consequence, they recognize themselves in that and try to get help," Pinsky said.
Drug abuse and the creative arts are longtime co-stars of the celebrity high-wire act. In the 1940s, leading man and tough guy Robert Mitchum did jail time for marijuana possession.
In the 1950s, Billie Holiday and Charlie "Birdman" Parker made all that jazz with heroin flowing through their veins. In the 1960s, box office giant Gary Grant extolled the virtues of LSD as therapy and Marilyn Monroe overdosed on prescription drugs.
The toll was high in the 1990s. Rock star Kurt Cobain shot himself after leaving a treatment center in Los Angeles. Funnyman Chris Farley and actor River Phoenix overdosed on cocaine and morphine.
Not Everyone in Hollywood Has Heard the Call.
Despite the spate of recent high-profile celebrity meltdowns, some wonder whether a cavalier attitude toward substance abuse remains pervasive in Hollywood. After being arrested for an alleged DUI in the fall, Paris Hilton didn't seem to see what all the fuss was about.
"It was nothing," she reportedly told "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. "I was just really hungry, and I wanted to have an In-N-Out burger."
Drew Barrymore, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and Justin Timberlake are quoted in the latest issue of Us Weekly magazine as openly having admitted to abusing drugs in the past.
Do stars believe they are above conventional norms or the law? "I treat lots of celebrities," Pinsky said. "Their stories are always replete with trauma and drugs and narcissism. People with these issues are drawn to becoming celebrities."
And Pinsky says celebrities have to deal with much more fallout if they stumble. "It is not that the celebrity status develops these phenomenons, it's that there's not so many boundaries or so many consequences that the rest of us would come up against," Pinsky said.
But there are consequences. While audiences seldom shun a star at the box office because of "bad behavior" in their real lives, studios are nowhere near as tolerant.
"It becomes prohibitively expensive to insure a movie production that has a drug user in the cast," said Tatiana Siegel, who covers the film industry for The Hollywood Reporter.
Last year, Lohan was blasted by Morgan Creek, the film company backing "Georgia Rule," in which she starred. The ingenue's tardiness and no-shows prompted CEO James G. Robinson to write a letter that found its way to the Internet.
"We are all well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your 'exhaustion.' We refuse to accept bogus excuses for your behavior," wrote Robinson.
He threatened to hold her "personably accountable" for actions the Morgan Creek chief said had "resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages."
"Lindsay Lohan has not signed on to any studio films in a while," Siegel said, "and I don't think that is a coincidence."
Downey's battles with drugs and the legal system for two decades dimmed a brilliant career hinted at by stellar performances in "Less Than Zero" and "Chaplin," for which he received an Oscar nomination.
"For years he was not making any studio movies. He was making independents," Siegel said. "He has just started to land high-profile roles."
Downey has received critical acclaim for his role in the recently released "Zodiac," and he will star as a superhero in the big budget action drama "Iron Man," scheduled to begin filming this month.
Young people take their cues from popular culture and from celebrities.
Marketers rely on that dynamic. So it is troubling for some to note that the headlines made by entertainers in the throws of addiction have an eerie echo in a startling new report about college kids.
Almost half of all full-time college students (4.8 million) binge drink and/or abuse prescription and illegal drugs, according to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University.
The comprehensive study also found that more than one-third of the students did not seek help because they feared the social stigma attached to substance abuse.
With more and more celebrities turning to treatment and admitting they have a problem, perhaps there is a message really worth marketing to young people.

Britney Spears Could Fall in Love Anywhere
Reports are that Britney Spears found a new love during her stay in rehab.

She met a musician, Jason Filyaw, a 33-year-old lead guitarist of the rock band Riva.The two met in AA and according to the National Enquirer (grain of salt, people..) Britney plans to move in with him once she’s out of rehab.
“Britney adores Jason,” a friend of Jackson’s told the Enquirer. “He’s been a tower of strength for her at the lowest point in her life. She’s convinced Jason can help her through rehab because as an alcoholic, he’s been through the same thing.”
Spears apparently hounds Jason with emails and phone calls. The two reportedly even have sickening pet names for one another: he calls her Sugar, Kitten and My Lady; she calls him Mr. Secret Underground Guy and J-Sun.I'm going to be ill.
Filyaw was contacted by the Enquirer, and all he had to say was, “I have nothing to say about this.”

Britney Spears Suffered Bulimia For Years
It has surfaced that Britney Spears told doctors at rehab that she has been bulimic since the age of 16.
Reportedly Britney told staff at Promises that she had the disease for years, with the exception of her pregnancies.According to an American magazine, Spears admitted that she “pigs out” on junk food before she purges. A source told the Daily Express,
"Doctors are alarmed at the physical state she is in. They confronted her about her desperately unhealthy lifestyle and the truth came pouring out.
“For the first few days, she’d take her tablets, then go off and eat breakfast or lunch. She was throwing the whole lot up, so, naturally, her medications weren’t working. Now the medical experts know why, her progress should pick up a little speed."

Isaac Cohen Prays For Britney Spears
People Magazine interviewed Isaac Cohen and asked him of course, about his ex-fling Britney Spears.
"I was definitely surprised that she went into rehab," Isaac Cohen told People Friday."I didn't feel it had to come to that, but you know, if that's what it takes and if that's what she needs."
"It's the best thing for her, her children – for everyone around her, actually," he said. "She's a strong girl and I really feel that she'll be okay."cable."

Britney Spears Claims She is the Antichrist, Attempts Suicide?
That's according to the tabloid, News of the World.
Britney Spears is supposedly going through such an awful time at Promises rehab center that has claimed that she's the antichrist and that she's on suicide watch after an attempt on her own life.
Britney Spears was seen "crying, and shouting, 'I am the Antichrist!'"
A source told News of the World that Britney Spears tried to kill herself late Saturday night, after the Antichrist incident.
"Later that night she tried to kill herself. She attached a sheet to a light and tied it around her neck. Paramedics were called, but luckily she was unhurt."The 'friend' of Britney Spears told the tabloid, "The clinic people just didn't know what to do [when she ran around claiming she's the Antichrist]. Then she started screaming, ‘I'm a fake! I'm a fake!' It must have been really frightening. When she tried to hang herself it was more a cry for help."
Kevin Federline, visited Promises on Sunday to help support his ex-wife.All Headline News reports that the Saturday night suicide attempt wasn't the first for Britney Spears and that she actually tried to kill herself the same night that she now infamously shaved her head.
A friend of Britney and Kevin's told News of the World, "Kevin has been a real tower of strength for her and she has finally decided to give their marriage another shot. She thought things were over between her and Kevin after his wild partying and gambling. She felt he had deserted her and left her to bring up their two children on her own. But Kevin's like a different man now. He's never been so caring before, and is really worried about Britney. He's been Britney's rock during her difficult time, and she wants to give him another chance."Another source told People Magazine, "He cares a lot about her. Britney scared everyone pretty bad. Kevin is worried that's for sure. Kevin just wants her to be OK."

“The story is absolutely untrue,” said Britney’s manager, Larry Rudolph. “She is in rehab, and it is very disappointing that various media outlets are running these false stories about her, as Britney tries to get better.”
Meanwhile, Amanda Alexander, sister of Britney's first husband Jason Alexander, is chirping to the press saying that she saw Britney use cocaine and e. Another Louisiana aquaintence, Kent Smith added that Britney has used them for years. "I've known Britney at least 10 years. We partied at Club 360 in New Orleans three years ago. She does like to party. I've been there when she's done ecstasy and cocaine."
Britney went off the deep end just before entering rehab for the third time, attacking paparazzi with an umbrella she used as a weapon. She repeatedly hit the photographers SUV and he claims he was hit as well. Poor baby.
Spears’ wild attack happened after Kevin refused to let her into his house. Kevin supposedly called the cops.
He is said to be staying with the kids to keep the photogs away.

Britney Back in Rehab for the Third Time in a Week
Britney Spears is back in rehab.
I really hope for my sake and hers that this is the last time I have to say that.According to TMZ.com, the custody hearing that Kevin Federline wanted right away has been cancelled because of the new development. The custody hearing had been planned for today.
So is Britney doing to rehab thing to get out of the hearing or does she really believe that this third time will be a charm?
Sources tell TMZ Federline is concerned for Spears' well being and wants her to get the help she is seeking. This is Spears' last chance..if she leaves rehab before getting full treatment, KFed has planned to go to court immediately, seeking orders allowing him full custody of the children.
Spears showed up at Federline's house last night and he wouldn't let her in. The children have been with him since last week.

Britney Spears In & Out of Rehab Once Again - Kevin's The Reason She Shaved Her Head
Oh the drama.
I don't know how much more of this I can take. Ahem! Here it goes..
Britney Spears has checked out of the Malibu rehabilitation center, 'Promises', less than 24 hours after entering.
Promises founder Richard Rogg told 'Extra' that patients are at their lowest when they ask for help.
“You have to hit a mental, spiritual, emotional kind of bottom,” Rogg said. “It’s that place where you are too afraid to go on living and too afraid to die.”
Regarding Britney's shaved head, there is a new report by OK Magazine about how Kevin Federline was at Britney's mansion last Friday when she returned from her first rehab stint.A huge fight ensued and Britney stormed out of the house and out on the town, where she later got tattoos and shaved her head.
“They had a huge argument,” revealed OK’s Rob Shuter. “Kevin threatened Britney that he was going to have people test her hair to find out exactly what she’s been up to. She was so scared. That was what made her have her head shaved.”
From there Britney headed to the Mondrian Hotel in a blue wig, couldn't get a room because she had no ID or credit cards on her being, then sobbed and shaved her legs at their pool.
Oh the humanity!
Staff thought Britney was having a breakdown and said she looked 'depressed and confused.'

Kevin Federline Steps Up To The Plate
Kevin Federline, known for whooping it up in Sin City, canceled plans in Las Vegas during the NBA All-Star weekend so that he could be available for his children.
"Kevin is concerned for Britney and his children," says a friend of Federline's. "Of course he's concerned about her. He loves her. He's always loved her – even after she started divorce proceedings."
According to another People Magazine source, Federline had booked a room from February 14-19th at the Venetian, but canceled the reservation.
This is nice news about the couple for once. I guess Kevin isn't 100% dirtbag afterall. Which is a great thing considering his children are really going to need him now.
