Someone decided to play a prank and edit Wikipedia to say that comedian Sinbad died of a heart attack.
E-mail links and message boards linked to the erroneous page. The rumor started to spread across the internet.Sinbad said his daughter was the first to call him. Then a few days later he started receiving hundreds of concerned phone calls, text messages and e-mails.
When asked by the AP if he was upset about the rumor, Sinbad just laughed.
"It's gonna be more commonplace as the Internet opens up more and more. It's not that strange."
A note on Sinbad's Wikipedia page Thursday night said the site has been temporarily protected from editing to deal with vandalism.
