Lipstick Jungle - Behind the Scenes

So Thursday February 7th 10/9c the much hyped Lipstick Jungle by the author of Sex and the City, will debut on NBC. The show follows the main characters; Movie Exec Wendy Healy, Editor-in-Chief Nico Reilly, and Fashion Designer Victory Ford through their trials and tribulations in NYC. Sound familiar? The termination of Sex and the City has left a gaping hole and face it we miss female drama, humility and the edgy fashion of the show. Will Lipstick Jungle be able to fill those minolo's? Watch next thursday and let me know what you think?

And to get you all ready for Fashion Week here is a debut video from the stylists at Lipstick Jungle.

Chinese Laundry Over The Knee Boots

Serena (Blake Lively) recently wore these Chinese Laundry Over the Knee Boots. They also come in brown and gray but I haven't been able to find the gray in stock anywhere. And the best part is they are only $99!

Project Runway Levi's Dress

So last week's Project Runway challenge was to design an iconic piece from old Levi's Jeans. The winner of the challenge is to have their item produced and sold in Levi stores. The winner was this dress by Ricky, and although I think it is Ricky's best design yet I wonder about the commercial viability of a dress this skimpy? Would you buy this dress?

Madewell 1937 Contest Winner

A few weeks ago I posted a contest to see who could pick out an item on the Madewell 1937 website and come up with the best outfit. The winning entry is by Nana. Here is what she had to say "My favorite item from the Madewell is "The Embellisher" jeweled necklace for $14.99. It's so chic and it's such a steal! It reminds me of Lanvin. I'd pair the necklace with a flirty mini dress by Rag&Bone for $515, some cute black tights from asos.com for $9.12, a bauble ring for $68.43 also from asos.com, the stunning "Zoe" Botkier clutch for $295 from neimanmarcus.com, and finally a pair of Jimmy Choo "Spell" slingback boots for an indulgent $1200. I love this look because it's girly but a little edgy at the same time."

J.Crew Making a Comeback

I don't know if you have noticed lately all of the ridiculously cute things that J.Crew has had over the last few months. Take for example these bold patterned, sixties inspired dresses. Adorable and innovative - not to mention affordable. Campo de' fiori sweater dress $175 and Links-print silk tank dress $140.

Fashion Color Forecast - Spring 2008

Keep your eye out for one of the springs hottest colors Freesia Yellow. This hot little Twelfth Street By Cynthia Vincent Yellow Dress is a perfect example of how yellow can add a new dimension to your wardrobe, especially after a long winter of dark colors. Available at Revolve Clothing $299.

Shop Jake Sale!

Shopjake is having a 70% off sale. I found these great shoes at a fraction of the price. And the best part is these are 3 season shoes so you can wear them long after winter is over. Karen Suede Wedge Orig. $425 on sale for $125 and Claudette Pump Orig. $585 on sale for $180.

Shiny Black Fashion

Recently the New York Times Style Section featured photos of New York women wearing black shinny down coats. I found this one on sale by Alice & Olivia at Bluefly on Sale $261. Down coats however aren't the only thing that look slick in shiny black, check out these adorable shoes by Loeffler Randall at Target.

Project Runway Disappoints

I was very disappointed at this weeks Project Runway. I believe I actually swore at the TV and went to bed angry. Week after week Sweat Pea and Ricki struggle to put together interesting, coherent, well made pieces. And somehow they beat out Kevin in the Prom Dress Challenge? I mean really! Kevin has more talent in his little finger than these two put together. Any how, the good news for Kevin is his talent is apparent and he shouldn't have trouble finding work. But Project Runway...give us a break!

Plaid Inspiration

I was just in a great vintage clothing store in Manhattan and they had a large rack of wool plaid skirts. I bought a couple of plaid items last year but didn't get as much wear as I had hoped out of them. Here are some items that have lately re-inspired me. Jovovich Hawk Darla Dress $215 at Revolve Clothing and Victoria Secret High-Waist Flannel Skirt $69.00

Shiny Leggings - Hot or Not?

So I have been seeing these Shiny leggings in stores lately....but I cannot figure out how people actually successfully wear these? Everything I would have previously paired cotton legging with...say sweater dresses, don't seem to go with these Jane Fonda-esk legs. Who has a suggestion of how these can be worn without looking like you are going to Jazzercise class? Leggings shown from American Apparel.

Wren Clothing

Wren clothing was recently featured at the GenArt's fashion show in Los Angeles. The soft, yet edgy looks are a great inpiration for what's coming this Spring. Although the line is still relatively un-discovered and hard to come by, it is currently available at Opening Ceremony in both New York and Los Angeles.

Lauren Merkin Yellow Bianca Handbag

I am infatuated with this new super bright yellow gold color for the spring. And what better way to brighten your day than toting this beautiful Lauren Merkin Bianca handbag. The bag contains ample room, two outside pockets and printed cotton lining. It is definitely a front runner for my Spring handbag. $495.00

Shoes by Melissa

I like these super shiny shoes by designer Melissa. They are from Brazil, a new twist on the rubber Jelly shoe. They add fun and charm to any outfit with their super glossy black rubbery material and retro-80s styling. $60 available at Candy Store San Francisco.

Alexis Bittar Jewelry

On my recent vacation in California I spent an afternoon walking on the beach and visited the redwood forest near the Russian River Valley. There are so many beautiful forms in nature and Alexis Bittars jewelry reminds me of my day spent on the California coast. Sculpted Wood Ring $245 and Hammered Oval Earrings $110.

It's 2008!

I don't know about you, but after a long vacation and some time to reflect I am really excited for a new year. And after all of the holiday hoopla I am ready for Spring! I know, I know it's still months away but here are some looks from the Spring 08 fashion shows to get you excited. Shown: Blugirl, Allegra Hicks, BCBG.
